Joyful Connections

Joyful Connections
By Singapore General Hospital

ABOUT
  • Be the Care that Heals. Volunteer with SGH!

Joyful Connections is part of SGH’s patient care initiative. It empowers geriatric patients to stay active, eat well, and remain meaningfully engaged during their hospital stay.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

Engage patients through one-on-one bedside conversations and therapeutic activities prescribed by geriatricians or occupational therapists — helping them stay mentally stimulated and emotionally supported.

You’ll also assist nurses and support patients during mealtimes - contributing to their comfort, nutrition and recovery.

    WHAT YOU’LL GAIN

    • First-hand experience in patient befriending and meaningful one-on-one engagement
    • Opportunities to conduct simple therapeutic activities at the bedside
    • Enhanced communication, empathy, and patient care skills
    • A chance to bring joy, comfort, and dignity to seniors on their recovery journey

To help you feel confident and prepared, all volunteers must:

    • Be available on Saturdays, 9:00– 12:30pm, from 14 June to 19 July 2025
    • Commit to at least 4 sessions during this period
    • Complete a mandatory e-learning by 23 May 2025
    • Attend in-person training and pass a short assessment on 24 May 2025
    • Register by 22 May 2025

This opportunity is perfect for those who are:

    • Aged 17 and above
