About This Opportunity

Volunteers for registration/ payment kiosk assistance, Hospital Navigation at outpatient clinics and Befriending Services in the ward will assist NHCS with the following:

• Assist patients / visitors to register or make payment using self-help kiosks in the outpatient areas - clinics, cardiac laboratory and pharmacy
• Provide way-finding assistance for patients who need help to navigate within the building
• Guide patients / caregivers on the use of Health Buddy Applications

• Assist elderly patients, patients on wheelchairs, patients on walking aids, patients with unsteady gait, and patients who are unwell to their next station

• Befriending services in the wards as Meal Buddies, Befriend patients, organise activities to engage patients' mind and body

 

Requirement:

Volunteers are required to assist our patients during their journey at the outpatient and inpatient wards areas in NHCS. They are required to:

• Attend an Orientation/ Training before starting their volunteer work at the outpatient clinic and at inpatient wards e.g. infection control, health buddy application, assisting patients during meals, life support training, Heart-saver programme, basic medical terminology
• commit at least 4 hours per week (Mon-Fri, 8.30am to 12.30pm or 1.30pm to 5.30pm for a minimum period of 3 months
• be fully vaccinated with Mumps, Measles and Rubella (MMR), Varicella (chicken-pox), Tdap and Covid-19 vaccinations
• be physically fit to be on their feet for a few consecutive hours
• be approachable, polite, interactive & preferably bilingual – English and Mandarin/Malay/Tamil, or able to converse in dialect
