About Curatorial and Collections Support Volunteer (Defence Collective Singapore)

Curatorial and Collections Support Volunteers support the curatorial and collections teams to research, document, and preserve Singapore’s defence heritage. You will assist with behind-the-scenes tasks from curatorial research and cataloguing of artefacts and photographs, to transcribing oral history materials, managing inventory, and tagging metadata. Through your contributions, you will help ensure that physical and digital records are accurately preserved and accessible for future exhibitions. This opportunity is suitable for individuals aged 18 and above who have a strong interest in history, storytelling, and the meticulous work involved in curatorial or archival management. Volunteers should be detail-oriented, possess basic computer literacy, and have a strong command of English. While no prior museum experience is required, you should be comfortable handling potentially sensitive historical content and physical materials with care. Selected volunteers will attend an onboarding briefing covering curatorial standards, confidentiality protocols, and specific collections care guidelines.
