Volunteer Befriender

As a Volunteer Befriender, you will be a buddy to 1-2 children and offer academic assistance to subjects such as English, Math, Science, and Mother Tongue (Chinese, Malay, Tamil). You will also create meaningful connections through games and activities, foster friendships while ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the sessions. 

Requirements:

• Age range: 17 - 35 years old
• Volunteers will be required to guide and facilitate the learning of the different subjects
• Required to attend 1 online orientation and training
• Volunteers are required to commit to all sessions

Commitment Dates:

Online Orientation & Training:

16 October (Monday), 4 - 5pm (Cancelled)

Befriending Sessions:

Session 1 - 23 October (Monday), 3pm - 6pm

Session 2 - 30 October (Monday), 3.30 - 6pm

Session 3 - 6 November (Monday), 3.30 - 6pm

Session 4 - No session due to Deepavali Public Holiday

Session 5 - 20 November (Monday), 3.30 - 6pm

Session 6 - 27 November (Monday), 3.30 - 6pm

Session 7 - 4 December (Monday), 3.30 - 6pm

Session 8 (Final) - 11 December (Monday), 3.30 - 6pm

Please note:

• The Orientation & Training (O&T) will be compulsory for all NEW volunteers. Recurring volunteers will not be required to attend the O&T but are highly encouraged to join as a refresher.
• Volunteers will be required to guide and facilitate the learning of the various subjects throughout ALL sessions.
• Shortlisted volunteers will be notified via WhatsApp and Email

Volunteer Coordinator

As a Volunteer Coordinator, you will be managing a team of Volunteer Befrienders as well as supporting the operations of Study Buddy Programme such as:

• Curating and designing team-building activities to promote teamwork amongst the volunteers and children
• Executing and ensuring smooth operations of the weekly befriending sessions
• Supporting the staff in managing the volunteers and children
• Providing academic support if needed/requested by the staff
• Leading briefings and debriefing sessions to gather feedback on the sessions
• Ensuring the safety and well-being of the children and volunteers

Requirements: (Please read before applying)

• Age range: 17 - 35 years old
• Able to attend ALL the sessions
• Attend a compulsory online Orientation & Training
• Facilitation experience is a bonus!
