Brought to you by the HeritageCares team at the National Heritage Board, Kids Day Out! marks the beginning of the school holiday season!
Under each series, Kids Day Out! aims to bring to young audiences an interactive and specially curated heritage experience both onsite at our Museums, Heritage Institutions and sites as well as through the digital realm!
For the upcoming edition in November/December 2021, Kids Day Out! (Online): Let’s Play! will bring children on a fun virtual journey to explore the playgrounds of Singapore! Young participants will learn more about iconic playgrounds with a special connection to our local heritage, and join in an exciting storytelling session about a magical dragon playground. At the end of their journey, they will get to explore their creativity by creating their own mini playground!

Volunteer Role: Content Facilitator
Do you enjoy interacting with young children?
As a content facilitator, you'll get the opportunity to engage with children. Using a slide deck to present fun quizzes and interactive activities, you will introduce them to the history and heritage of Singapore's retro playgrounds.
You may also be expected to double as a crafts facilitator, and guide children through creating their very own mini dragon slides out of popsicle sticks, paper, and cardboard.
Volunteer Role: Storyteller
Do you have a flair for dramatic reading?
As a storyteller, you will be narrating Epigram Books' Ang Ku Kueh Girl & Friends: The Blur Sotong, written by Wang Shijia and illustrated by Han Qingping. Through this story, children will be introduced to Singapore's iconic Dragon Playground!
Ang Ku Kueh girl and her friends learn the story of how the Dragon became a playground. In a bid to break the spell on the Dragon and set him free, they set out to confront the Blur Sotong.
