Coping with Anxiety by Athel, Mentidote
People from all walks of life have experienced anxiety at one point of time or another. Some seem to get more overwhelmed than others, with more and more younger generations voicing out their unmanageability. Especially with the recent global pandemic situation, reported cases of anxiety have increased, along with heightened levels. Likewise, the importance of developing appropriate responses to feelings of anxiety have increased.

This workshop is about: what anxiety is; how it happens; signs of anxiety; what can be done; what to do.

Relational Communication by Varian, Counselling Consultant
Relationships come in many forms. They can be romantic, friendship, familial, professional, community, religious, etc. As few or many relationships as we have, we might not always communicate in a manner that we would like with these other persons. Commonly, we allow our words to be charged by our emotions and end up abrading the relation. This can lead to build-up of friction, and more so if living in close quarters; an upward trend since the pandemic happened. This workshop is about: emotional regulation; active listening and open-ended questions; word/speech choices; communicating with yourself (inner voice).

Shaping our Image by Nicolette Fernandez, Fleek Image
With the increasingly popular uptake of social media, appearances seem to be even more important than ever. Body image and the importance that is attached to this has become a focal point in many people’s lives; a prominent feature in the lives of youth. Body shaming is an old practice that can take a particularly nasty turn when combined with speed of digital dissemination (e.g. cyberbullying) and awkwardness of physical development.

This workshop is about: what makes us unconfident about our bodies; what can we do to love ourselves; building confidence; standing up for ourselves (and others).

Psychological First Aid by Muhammad Haikel, Psychosocial Support Community
Knowledge on physical first aid, such as CPR and bandaging a wound, has become familiar lessons in the community. Yet psychological first aid has not. With the advent of covid-19, many people have experienced signs of distress; an unmanageable experience that might be entirely new for some. Distress can happen to anyone, mentally healthy or otherwise. Therefore, having first aid knowledge and the relevant psychological tools handy is a preventative measure that could save a situation from worsening.

This workshop is about: signs of needed attention; what these signs signify; fi
rst aid techniques (plaster or tourniquet?); what you can do (for yourself or others); when to seek therapeutic assistance.
