Planning to initiate a Community Service Project but don't know how? In this upcoming series, we have invited Skillseed to introduce a model known as, Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), which is a widely practiced framework for community development work!
ABCD recognises, emphasises and utilises the various assets - both tangible and intangible - that exist in a given community. By adopting the ABCD framework, it fosters greater understanding between the community's members and the assets they bring along. When these assets are fully mobilised, external resources can be better allocated towards meeting issues the community is unable to tackle on its own.
Participants will be exposed to the various categories of assets and how to identify and map assets, ranging from the scales of the individual, to the community and the broader environment. Participants will also be introduced to the Empathy Map as a tool to equip them with the ability to understand their intended stakeholders (i.e. persons of interest/ end users) on a deeper level.
Building upon that, participants will embark on the learning journey segment, including an Endowment Portraits activity where they will practise asset and empathy mapping at Kampung Admiralty, focusing on the theme of social inclusion (ageing-in-place).
Important Note:
As this is a paid training, we will require all confirmed participants to attend the full session. Should the participant not be able to turn up for the workshop due to unforeseen circumstances, they will be required to:
a) Find a one-to-one replacement for the session or
b) Pay the full sum of $150 to cover the cost of the training
