ABOUT
    • *This is not a volunteering opportunity!*

      The National Museum is looking to recruit our next batch of Care Facilitator volunteers to support us in our many meaningful programmes for seniors, including those living with dementia! 

      If you would like to find out more about the role of a Care Facilitator before applying, join us for this information session at the National Museum of Singapore's Reunion Senior Social Space to find out more about the roles, privileges, and programmes that we run.

      For note before registering:

    • - To apply as a volunteer, you will be required to complete an application form with your personal particulars for our screening purposes. Form for applying as a Care Facilitator volunteer. Application closes on the 20 October 2023.

      - Successful applicants will be expected to attend a 4 out of 6 mandatory volunteer trainings on 10*, 17*, 24, 31 Jan, and 14 February (all Wed), from 2pm - 5pm. 

    • *There is an additional timeslot for the training from 9.30am - 12.30pm.

     

    Pre-registration for Information Session is required:

    - Information Sessions available: 7 October (Sat), 2pm - 3.30pm | 11 October (Wed), 10.30am - 12pm

    - Please email nhb_nm_programmes@nhb.gov.sg to register your interest by 2 October (Mon).

Role of a Care Facilitator:

  • Engage seniors, including visitors with dementia and accompanying caregivers in our museum’s galleries and Reunion social space – the first dedicated social space for seniors in a local museum
  • Facilitate conversations with seniors using the museum’s artefacts through conversational guided tours
  • Support the running of signature programmes for seniors and visitors with additional needs

 

Requirements:

  • Caring personality and keen to spend time with seniors and persons with additional needs
  • At least 18 years old in the year of the application
  • Effectively bilingual in English AND either Mandarin, Malay, Tamil and/ or dialects
  • Able to volunteer on weekdays, particularly on every first and third Thursdays of the month, and other weekdays / Saturdays / public holidays on an ad-hoc basis
  • Able to commit to a minimum of two years of service and volunteer about 2-4 times a month
  • Able to attend six (6) 3-hour training sessions, which will include
    • Dementia-awareness and hands-on training sessions
    • Gallery walkthroughs
