ABOUT

  • What should you expect? 
    •Care for various types of rescued companion animals in the Animal Classroom
    •Clean play pens, feeding and drinking bowls, as well as animals' home items
    •Prepare meals for animals, including cutting fresh vegetables
    •Socialise with animals

    Why should you volunteer?
    •Experience caring for and gain confidence handling small companion animals like cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters and terrapins
    •Learn about needs and behaviours of various species of companion animals

    Requirements
    •16 years old and above
    •Comfortable working with companion animals
    •Attend an orientation session at Jacob Ballas Children's Garden
    •Commit to at least 12 sessions over 3 months
    •Not allergic to animal fur or dander

Animal Classroom Caregiver- Sessions

[Please only sign up for these sessions if you have attended the orientation session]

•Care for various types of rescued companion animals in The Animal Classroom

•Clean play pens, feeding and drinking bowls, as well as animals' home items

•Prepare meals for animals, including washing and cutting fresh vegetables

•Socialise with animals

•Inform us of any abnormal behaviour or signs of illnesses observed immediately (e.g. vomiting, diarrhoea,  wounds, lethargy, not eating food, no poop or pee overnight)

•Inform us of any accidents or injuries you or the animals may have sustained immediately

•Feel free to hang out or do your own work from The Animal Classroom 

•Remember to fill in the time log sheet when you come for sessions

•On some days, the pets need to be cleaned and fed earlier to accommodate students coming for their learning journey
