ABOUT
  • We are looking for passionate individual as Facilitator to engage both parents and children for KelasMateMatika@CC (KMM@CC) programme.

    KMM@CC is targeted at parents with preschool children aged 4 to 6 years old, to help them into the study of Mathematics. It aims to empower parents with Mediation Learning Experience (MLE) skills so that they are more confident to teach their children in learning the basic numeracy concepts.

    Responsibilities of KMM Facilitators;

    • Conduct three hours session with both parents and child
    • Engage both parents and children 
    • Conduct a pre and post assessment for parents
    • Conduct assessment for children
    • Consolidate attendance

    Upon registration, you will be contacted for screening and interviewing.  We would like to hear your passion and aspiration for volunteering.  

    All successful deployment will be paid an honorarium of $50 per hour. 

    Commitment of KMM Facilitators

    • Attend two core trainings a prior to deployment
    • Attend three job shadowing (one job shadowing only is required with Early Childhood Education) prior to deployment 
    • Attend three other mandatory training modules
    • To be committed to six consecutive KMM sessions each run 
    • To be committed to two runs (6 sessions  x 2 runs)  in a year

KMM@CC Facilitator

All volunteers will be required to attend five training modules. Please refer to all the modules below. Module 1, 2 and three job shadowing are compulsory before being deployed. Training calendars will shared upon successfully accepted as KMM Facilitator. 

Mandatory Trainings  

Module 1 :  Mediated Learning Experience (MLE)

Physical MLE training is conducted for two consecutive days over the weekend (9am to 4pm)

The MLE training covers the following; 

  • What is Mediated Learning Experience? (Environment and Human-Agent)
  • The three criteria of Mediated Learning Experience
  • Tools that Mediate Learning

Module 2 :  KMM Content Sharing

This is a 3-hour workshop on a Friday night. This workshop covers the following;

  • Needs assessment, pre-perception survey. Getting to know parents and children
  • Behavioral components, MLE practices
  • Early Numeracy Development
  • Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach
  • Pattern recognition & Problem-solving
  • Family Maths Games. Review of empowerment techniques

Upon completion of the above trainings, Facilitators are required to attend 3 sessions of job shadowing and are ready to deployed.  Volunteers with early childhood experience will be allowed to attend a minimum of one job shadow. Volunteers will be assigned to a location accordingly. 

Module 3 : Understanding and engaging Malay Muslim families 

This is full day training conducted on Saturday, 9am to 5pm.  The training covers the following; 

  • Raise awareness on the challenges face by families 
  • Reflection on values 

Module 4 : Facilitation Skills 

Facilitation skills is conducted for two consecutive days over the weekend (9am to 5pm)

  • Fundamentals of facilitation skills 
  • Practical application 

Module 5 : Digital skills
