  • Do you have a strong desire to befriend seniors who are experiencing social disconnectedness? 


    Join us at Neighbour Cares for an incredible opportunity to brighten the lives of our seniors in Toa Payoh, in partnership with Care Corner!

    Together, we will embark on a heartwarming 10-week journey with weekly check-in sessions, spreading the joy and companionship in making a difference and create meaningful connections!

    This opportunity is a youth-led initiative part of Youth Corps Leaders Programme.

    All applications are subjected to approval. The number of available slots reflected are based on the number of confirmed applications.

Your role as a Volunteer Befriender is to:

  • Check in on the befriended seniors' well-being
  • Conduct engagement activities at the befriended seniors' doorstep
  • Inform and encourage befriended seniors to utilise community resources

Requirements (Please read before applying):

  • Age range: 17-35 years old
  • Attend Welcome Tea (16 June 2024)
  • Attend Orientation and Training (22 June 2024)
  • Attend Mid-Point Check-in (conducted between 21 July 2024 - 27 July 2024 in addition to the 5th befriending session that week, exact date tbc)
  • Willing to befriend a variety of seniors with different backgrounds
  • Willing to socialise!
  • Complete at least 80% of the 10 weeks befriending sessions (once-a-week)

Important Dates & Time:

16 June [9:30AM-1:00PM]: Welcome Tea

22 June [9:30AM-1:00PM]: Orientation and Training

by 27 July: Mid-point check-in

07 September [5:00PM]: Volunteer Appreciation

24 June to 01 September: Commencement of 10 weeks weekly befriending sessions (approx. 2hr per session)
