    SingHealth Community Hospitals (SCH) is running a meaningful programme to enhance patient support, and we’d love for you to be part of this journey.

     

    What is HEARTS?

    HEARTS (Helping, Engaging And Reaching out Through Service) is a ward volunteer programme where trained volunteers work directly alongside healthcare teams. You'll provide essential patient companionship, mealtime support, Nand practical assistance - filling the gap between medical care and human connection that is important to our patients.

     

    Make a Real Impact

    As a HEARTS volunteer, you'll: 

    • Provide bedside companionship and supervision to prevent falls
    • Assist with mealtimes - help with menu selection and safe feeding techniques
    • Support therapy sessions and learn patient transfer skills
    • Bridge language gaps through translation assistance
    • Handle non-clinical tasks so nurses can focus on medical care

     

    Who Can Join?

    We welcome individuals who are:

    • Passionate about hands-on patient care
    • Physically able to assist with patient transfers and feeding
    • Able to facilitate recreational activities and patient engagement
    • Comfortable with close patient interaction and basic care tasks
    • Available for 3.5 hour shifts (timings range between 8am - 12.30pm), twice per month on Mondays or Wednesdays, for 6 months after training
    • Able to attend a 1-day training session before starting

- HEARTS & STAR Programme Briefings 
- Practical guidance on delivering compassionate, patient-centred care within the ward setting
- Specialised Topics for Palliative Care & Dementia Care

Facilitators
The sessions will be conducted by our team of clinicians, including Doctors, Nurses, and Allied Health Professionals, each sharing expertise within their respective areas of specialisation.
