ABOUT
  • We are looking for ComLink Befrienders!

    Low-income individuals and families often face multiple stressors and may not know what help is available. Even if they do, they often have to repeat their circumstances and visit different agencies to apply for various schemes, which can be taxing on the families. They may also often be preoccupied with bread-and-butter issues and may not have the bandwidth to consider future or long-term goals, which affects their ability to seize the opportunities to build a better life.

    These families will benefit from close action planning and befriending support – someone they can turn to for advice/help, as well as to hold them accountable to their goals and ensure they are making progress over time. However, not all families have issues that may require professional intervention. ComLink Befriending was set up to help bridge this gap and make it easier for families to access help in a more coordinated, convenient and comprehensive way.

    As an ComLink Befriender, you will befriend and journey with the family, while working hand-in-hand with an SSO Coordinator who will work backend with both government agencies and community partners. Together, an integrated "support and action plan" for the family will be developed. In essence, the ComLink Befriender will:

    • Be paired up with another befriender and work with an SSO Coordinator in supporting two low-income families towards achieving their goals;
    • Journey with the family, nudge and encourage them towards these goals, and update the SSO Coordinator on the family' progress; and
    • Provide feedback and suggestions to improve the operating model, in preparation for a scale-up.
