Volunteers with a background or familiarity in Sailing are preferred for various roles at the event. These roles include
1) Mark Boat Assistant - to assist with the preparation of all the equipment on the boat, to assist to lay the mark(s), to monitor the participants' safety on the water, to return all equipment back to the race control each day.
2) Race Secretariat - to monitor the check in and check out for the participants, to assist with the preparation of lunch for the workforce, beach marshall, land support
This list is not exhaustive, and additional tasks may be delegated by staff to ensure smooth operations. The specific roles will be assigned on competition days.
Upon successful registration, Team Nila Volunteer Leaders (TNVLs) will add volunteers to a WhatsApp group for further details. Volunteers are required to wear a Team Nila shirt with sports bottoms (knee-length) and covered shoes. Those without a Team Nila t-shirt will receive one upon reporting for duty. Meal arrangements and additional information will be communicated via the WhatsApp group.
Volunteers are advised to travel light and avoid bringing valuables, as there will be no storage facilities available. In alignment with the Singapore Green Plan 2030, volunteers should bring their own water bottles for hydration, which can be refilled at the venue.
