Suicide prevention is everyone’s business. It is our ambition to shift from a culture of silence, to one of openness and empathy, through empowering the wider community to be more vigilant and encourage them to keep a lookout for anyone in distress. 'Be A Samaritan' (BAS) is a 2-part programme conducted by Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) which aims to equip the community with the knowledge and skills to be a first responder to anyone facing a suicide crisis by engaging and encouraging distressed individuals to seek help and providing them with emotional support in an empathetic manner.This is a workshop opportunity that aims to raise social awareness for your learning and development. No community service is involved; hence service hours will not be awarded.

Participant
The workshop is hybridised into 2 parts that will require you to complete a 1- hour e-learning course, Suicide Prevention 101 (SP101). This will equip you with the basic knowledge of suicide prevention and how to better support your loved ones who are facing a crisis. Followed by a 2 hour workshop held in The Red Box, where you will learn the practical skills on how to demonstrate the ‘3A approach’ through role plays and assessments to help someone in distress.Important requirement: Complete SP101 E-learning before #HowRU Workshop on 13 December
