Soundball (also known as tennis for the blind and visually impaired)
This is a long-term volunteering opportunity. Volunteers must be able to commit to a minimum of 2 sessions per month in subsequent months.
Volunteers are required to facilitate the session:
1. Assisting the players with setting up the court and preparing the sports equipment for the session.
2. Assisting the person in charge with SMM (clean and sanitize sports equipment, maintain hygiene standards, etc.).
3. Befriending and interacting with the participants, may need to assist participants when doing exercises or moving around).
4. Rally or feed balls to players (if skills permit - do bring your racket if you would like)
5. Pick balls (inside and outside the playing area - to prevent players from tripping on the balls.
Note:
1) You will receive an invitation to join a WhatsApp group with the coaches after your registration is confirmed in the portal.
2) Attire: Team Nila shirt, sport shorts/bermuda and sport shoes. Volunteer with inappropriate attire will be turned away from the volunteering.
For New Volunteers:
New volunteers must read the guide/FAQs on go.gov.sg/tshirt-for-new-tn and collect their Team Nila lion t-shirt from 9 Sep 2024 onwards, at the appointed distributor before their first volunteering shift.
3) Bring along your water bottle to keep yourself hydrated throughout the session. Water refill points will be available at the venue.
4) Travel light as there is no storage area for your belonging.
