Medical Chaperon

The SGH Population Health and Integrated Care Office (PHICO) would like to invite you to be a part of the Medical Chaperon programme.

This programme started because of the overwhelming demand for MET services in the community. The lack of services in the community has resulted in patients waiting up to 3 months to get an MET appointment, which has caused some of them to delay or postpone their outpatient hospital appointments.

Such patients are at risk of poorer health outcomes because they are not able to receive timely care and follow-up.

Volunteer's roles
1. Receive the patient at the drop-off lobby and bring them to their scheduled appointment(s) within SGH Campus (registration kiosk, consultation room, pharmacy) by pushing them on a wheelchair.

2. Navigate within the SGH campus.

3. Accompany the patient throughout the entire duration of the appointment(s).

4. Bring the patient to the designated SGH lobby for the medical transport provider to fetch the patient home.

Note:
-Volunteers are to be vaccinated against Covid-19, MMR, Tdap and Varicella.
-Volunteer opportunities are available on Mon-Fri, 8.30am to 6pm.
-Each session is approximately 4 hours.
-Location, within SGH campus, where volunteer carries out their duty varies
