ABOUT
  • Project ROSE (Reaching Out for Senior Engagement) is an amazing opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of seniors in our community! Our programme aims to provide companionship and check-ins for seniors who may be feeling isolated and alone.

     

    As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with seniors, provide them with support they require, and engage in activities with them. Through this programme, you will gain valuable skills in communication, empathy, and leadership.

     

    By volunteering with Project ROSE, you will not only make a positive impact on the lives of seniors, but also help to bridge the gap between generations. It's a chance to learn from the wisdom and experience of our senior community members, while also sharing your own unique perspectives and experiences.

     

    Project ROSE has two runs:

    • Run 1: 6 May - 17 June 2023 (Link)
    • Run 2: 1 July - 12 August 2023

    Volunteers are welcome to sign up for both runs.

     

    Project ROSE has 3 available roles:

Volunteer (Social Media)

As a social media volunteer, your role is to capture key interaction moments from the programme through photos, videos, and interviews for archival and publicity purposes, as well as to support befrienders in interacting with the seniors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To join house visits and/or get-together activities to capture key moments through photos, videos, and interviews
  • To design social media posts or write-ups on the programme as needed
  • To support the team in befriending efforts

 

The dates are as follows:

Run 2:

1. Orientation & Training (O&T) [Shift 1]
Date: 8 July (Sat)
Time: 9:30am - 12:30pm (Lunch is provided)
Location: Blossom Seeds, 105 Canberra Street, 02-01/06, 750105

 

2. Bi-weekly House Visits or Team Huddles [Shift 2 - 5]

Dates: 15 July, 22 July, 29 July, 5 August
Time: 3 hours on Saturday mornings, actual timing depends on your assigned group (flexible for discussion)
Frequency: 3 visits across 6 weeks
Location
: Montreal, Sembawang
Details: Providing bi-monthly house visits to the identified assigned seniors to check in on their wellbeing and interact with them 

 

3. Get-Together Activity [Shift 6]
Dates: 12 August
Time: 9am - 1pm
Location
: Blossom Seeds, 105 Canberra Street, 02-01/06, 750105
Details: Volunteer Coordinators will be planning a get-together activity to close off the run. Volunteer Befrienders will be there to partake in the activities alongside the seniors.

Social media volunteers are welcome to sign up for any shift according to their flexibility and comfort.

Volunteer Befriender

As a Volunteer Befriender for Project ROSE, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable, isolated seniors in the Sembawang estate. Through phone calls and house visits, you will conduct profiling to better track the seniors' needs and identify any support or aid required. You will build lasting relationships through befriending and engaging in meaningful conversations with the seniors, and invite them to join fun and exciting get-together activities.

 

You will be put into teams of 4 - 6 volunteer befrienders with a Volunteer Coordinator and Adult Volunteer with Blossom Seeds. There will be compulsory training provided for volunteers, and volunteers will be supported throughout their journey in Project ROSE.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Through phone calls and house visits to assigned seniors,
    • To conduct profiling for better tracking;
    • To identify any existing needs or aid for referral or support;
    • To build relationships through befriending and conversations
    • To invite seniors to get-together activity
  • To attend get-together activities and participate in the activities alongside seniors

Date: One call per assigned senior per week (about 10 mins per call)
Time: Flexible, we will give you the profile of the senior of the timing they prefer to be contacted
Frequency: Approximately 5 calls a week

Details: Providing weekly check-in calls to the identified assigned seniors to check in on their wellbeing.

Volunteer Coordinator

As a Volunteer Coordinator for Project ROSE, you will play a crucial role in helping to support and manage our team of Volunteer Befrienders. Your main responsibility will be to ensure that the seniors receive the best possible support and companionship from our volunteers, and ensuring the Volunteer Befrienders are taken care of as well.

 

You will gain valuable skills in leadership, project management, and communication. You will also have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of seniors in our community and to help bridge the gap between generations.

 

Each Volunteer Coordinator will manage a team of 4 - 6 Volunteer Befrienders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide oversight and collate information provided by your team of befrienders on the needs of the assigned seniors, ensuring the seniors receive the support as needed
  • To organise the 3 house visit sessions with your team
  • To plan the get-together activity alongside adult volunteers

Details: VCs are to ensure VBs make the call and log the necessary information, and provide support to the VCs as needed.

 

3. Bi-weekly House Visits [Shift 3 - 6]

Details: Volunteer Coordinators will be planning a get-together activity to close off the run. Volunteer Befrienders will be there to partake in the activities alongside the seniors. VCs will be awarded additional hours for planning as required.

 

Volunteer Coordinators are required to sign-up for all the shifts.
